Welcome to Bankfield, which
was opened in April 1987.
Bankfield has a long and noted
history as one of the oldest
properties in Bury, the original
building dated back to the
18th Century.

Our homes are privately owned and have provided residential care in the area for over two decades. We pride ourselves on providing a high standard of care to all our residents.

We offer 47 bedrooms, with 22 en suite, 3 doubles, which are all decorated to a high standard and exceed required standards. Some ground floor bedrooms have French windows leading into our secure garden. We can offer three assisted and three unassisted bathrooms for the more independent residents and 2 shower rooms, which meet the new required standards.

Residents are encouraged to personalise their bedrooms to make them feel more like home.

Every room is equipped with a nurse call point, fire alarm, television aerial and phone socket. All rooms have lockable door to ensure privacy and independence. Bankfield House has two floors both of which are self-contained. We have 3 relaxing lounges and 3 conservatories that overlook the south facing ornamental garden, enjoying the views of the fountain, patio area, walkways and borders.  We have 1 dining room, however residents are free to eat in their own rooms if they wish to.

Our library area offers a wide choice of books, some in large print. A full laundry and ironing service is provided and there is a smoking area for residents and their family.

Our menus are varied with choices to cater for individual preferences and tastes. Our own Cooks, who also love to bake and provide little treats, prepare all our food. Drinks and snacks are always available [ see example menu’s]

Activity is a very important aspect of living in Bankfield house. We offer a varied activity programme in which our activity co-ordinator encourages our residents to participate in our social events, theme evenings and regular outings.

Personal attention to grooming is provided by a hairdresser who visits weekly. We also offer various massages carried out by a qualified masseuse and have a visiting chiropodist; dentist and optician to ensure that individual health needs are met. Our Admin team are there to help residents manage their finances and to assist with any other queries.

For religious residents we have a regular church service.

Bernadette Howley is our manager; she is N.V.Q level 7 qualified and has gained her experience over 20  years in residential and dementia care. Bernadette continues to develop her management abilities with on-going updates and training. We have 2 deputy managers, Chrissy Green and Marta Ochmann, both of whom are fully trained to NVQ level 4 and have many years of experience in care for the elderly.

She actively encourages her staff to develop their skills with regular supervisions and appraisals and on-going training programmes. Most of our staff is trained to NVQ level 2 and many already have had specialist training in dementia
care. We provide 24-hour care and now have a QCQ 1 star rating.

At Bankfield  House, the individual’s care plan is a key focus of the way we work, based on the resident’s needs. The plan is reviewed daily and fully updated monthly to ensure that the changing requirements of our residents are fully met.

We encourage the families of our residents to be as involved as much as they can in the care and well being of their loved ones.

Please come and visit us, meet the team and have a look at our homes. We can help you understand about residential care and dementia and the
limitations it brings and why full time professional care is best for everyone and we can help you through the minefield of funding.
