Welcome to Blackley, which was opened in 1995 as part of the Bankfield Partnership.

Our group is privately owned and has provided residential care in the area for over two decades. We pride ourselves on providing a really friendly home and high standard of care to all our residents.

We offer 15 single bedrooms and 1 double bedroom, which are all decorated to a high standard and all have washing facilities.

Residents are always encouraged to personalise their bedrooms to make them feel more like home and we are happy to help with this.
Every room is equipped with a nurse call point, fire alarm, television aerial and phone socket.  All rooms have lockable door to ensure privacy and independence.
Cleanliness and personal hygiene is important to all our residents and we have 2 assisted bathrooms and 1 assisted shower room, which those well enough are free to use whenever they wish, however for many of our residents having assistance is more reassuring. We also have a full laundry service and a team of cleaners keeping us fresh and tidy.

At Blackley, the individual’s care plan is a key focus of the way we work, based on the resident’s needs. The plan is reviewed daily and fully updated monthly to ensure that the changing requirements of our residents are fully met.
We encourage the families of our residents to be as involved as much as they can in the care and well being of their loved ones.

We have 2 large lounges, the main lounge; with a large screen TV is the main public area and is usually a buzz of activity and chat. The conservatory lounge can be a quiet spot or an alternative TV lounge if required. Both are very comfortably furnished and also offer areas for other activities and theme nights. There is also a large selection of Music and DVD’s available and we have a library area for those who prefer a quiet read along with a selection of daily newspapers.

Our enclosed garden has seating areas and paved walkways for our residents and visitors to enjoy and is a busy place during the summer. Our residents often enjoy helping to keep it tidy and well stocked with flowers.

We have a lovely, comfortable dining room that offers food and refreshments 24 hours a day. Our residents usually eat together or they can eat in their rooms if they prefer. Food is a major focus for us, to ensure we provide a range of appetising menus, but also are very aware of the nutritional needs of our residents. In some cases we may need to provide energy dense menus providing high calories in small portions, perhaps we need to provide pureed meals for those with eating difficulties. In all cases food needs to look and taste good. Our own Cooks also love to bake and provide little treats.

Activity is a very important aspect of living in Blackley. We offer a varied activity programme in which we encourage our residents to participate in our social events, theme evenings and regular outings.

Personal attention to grooming is provided by a hairdresser who visits weekly. We also have a visiting chiropodist, dentist and optician to ensure that individual health needs are met. Our Admin team are there to help residents manage their finances and to assist with any other queries.

For religious residents we have a regular church service.

We are proud of our staff, most of them have been with us for 10 years or more. Mrs Jacqui Whittaker is our manager; she is N.V.Q level 4 qualified and has gained her experience over many years in residential care. Jacqui has continued to develop her management abilities with on-going updates and training. Jacqui and Karen Dutton our Deputy manager actively encourage our staff to develop their skills with regular supervisions and appraisals and on-going training programmes. All of our staff is trained to NVQ level 2 and above. We provide 24-hour care and have a QCQ 2 star rating based on the old pre 2011 system.

For more information please call 0161 740 8552 and ask for Jacqui or Karen to arrange to come and visit us or to ask for a brochure.

Please come and visit us, meet the team and have a look at our homes. We can help you understand about residential care and dementia and the
limitations it brings and why full time professional care is best for everyone and we can help you through the minefield of funding.
